Burning Hearts
This morning we finish our reading of the Gospel of Luke. We begin today’s reading with the Easter reading for tomorrow and celebrate the victory over death. I am always taken aback by the fear and confusion that must have been present when the women were confronted with an empty tomb. I think that they, like us would not have immediately jumped to the conclusion that Christ had been raised from the dead . . . however, they were told the good news and shared it. In fact, just like we are called to do . . . share the Good News when we have heard it. Jesus is also present in this text in the breaking of the bread. When we gather in worship and celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we are also brought face to face with Christ. The bread and wine, body and blood open our eyes to see Christ. Blessings to you this Easter season!
Noon
Today’s reading profoundly reinforces John’s passion account that is read in our service tonight. It is a stark reminder to us of the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf . . . not an easy price . . . and not when we are at our best, but rather when we did not deserve it. Blessings to you this Good Friday. Worship at 7:30pm.
Word
We move through several sections in today’s reading. God’s Word is cast and we have to ask if we are prepared to receive it. This very Word of God present at creation again triumphs over chaos as the storm itself obeys. Jesus surprises everyone when his ministry involves the support of women. How is God’s creative Word surprising us and calling us to action? Are we ready to receive that same Word?
