Summer 2010 CMT Musicals:

June 14 - 25
The Disappearance of Mirabella Van DeVeer

Performances: June 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The dictionary defines a melodrama as a drama characterized by exaggerated emotions, stereotypical characters, and interpersonal conflicts. Well this play has all that and more! A comedy, a mystery, a crazy whodunit, and the most convoluted plot you'll ever try to follow lead us to understand that each of us need to embrace who we are- foibles and all. Living in grace means tackling those seven deadly sins and nurturing their counterparts- the fruits of the spirit. Set in a post civil war Louisiana mansion, the lavish sets, costumes, and big musical numbers (ranging in style from jazz, reggae, to tango and French can can) will delight and excite your kids.

July 26 to August 6
Don't Shut Us Out

Performances: August 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m.

When the church youth group borrows the Christenson’s cabin for their weekend youth retreat they hope to get closer to God by having a meditative spiritual experience. Unfortunately their quiet weekend is spoiled with the continuous disruptions of strangers who are hungry, homeless, and without a friend. How is the group supposed to find God when all these needy people keep interrupting them? Eventually they understand that God is among them in the guise of these strangers and they extend their kindness and invite them in.

August 9 to August 20
Part of One Story

Performances: August 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Part of the CMT experience is learning how to audition for a part. And no matter how often we say that every part is equally important each child has an idea about what he or she wants to be. This comical look at a disastrous Christmas play is not so much about that story, but more about how we all need to do our best with the roles we are given. Being stuck as a pig or a chicken doesn’t seem like it’s as fun as being Mary or Joseph, but as the pageant’s secondary characters takeover center stage they learn that everyone is a part of the story. This perennial favorite will keep your children laughing and singing for 2 weeks and beyond.
