Summer 2009 CMT Musicals:

June 15 - 26
Wilderness People

Performances: June 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The search for love, a spoon, and the meaning of life among giants, chickens, bananas, and bread of wonder

Back by popular demand, Wilderness People is one of our newest productions and is already a hilarious classic. This Monty Python-esque comedy follows King Lear, Romeo, and multiple other Shakespearean characters as they are thrown, much like Moses and the Israelites, into the wilderness. Finding the presence of God in even the darkest places helps the characters journey through these medieval woods. The meaning of life is discovered as they find answers to haunting questions like "How many Antonios does it take to acquire a spoon?" "Can a banana be a weapon?" and "What is a fairy cud-mother?" Learning to be content with who you are and what you have is the overriding message of this musical- oh, that and making sure that you DON'T CROSS THE RED C!! (It gets so very upset, you know.)

July 27 to August 7
Sinchi Sacha

Performances: August 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to send your kid to a really exotic place for summer camp? Well here's your chance to let them experience the rainforest while returning to their own cozy bed every night. Sinchi Sacha is a Quechuan phrase meaning "powerful forest," and the adventurous campers who spend a month there are changed by the people and animals they encounter. In this musical your child will be encouraged to appreciate the importance of the rain forest as a vital part of the earth's ecosystem. They will also see how the consequences of their choices affect people and places that seem so far away. We will all learn to be better stewards of God's great earth (while singing and dancing, of course).

August 10 to August 21
The Greatest Treasure

Performances: August 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m.

One of our favorite oldies (but such a goodie), The Greatest Treasure celebrates and cultivates a respect for the sea, one of our greatest God-given treasures. What summer would be complete without being a pirate or mermaid, angel fish or orca, octopus or crabbie? And then there are the horrible, (but oh-so-fun-to-be), GARBAGIOS! This play is a joyful rollick with nine great original songs, spectacular costumes, and unforgettable characters. Whether you've been in this musical before or you've never had the chance, performing in The Greatest Treasure is a childhood experience that shouldn't be missed!
